I know this review is long overdue, but I can’t say enough about Irvine Spine and Wellness Center and the incredible care I received here. Mamak truly changed the way I understand my body and movement. Through DNS, she helped me develop a completely new awareness—especially around biological breathing, pelvic floor connection, and functional movement patterns. As a Pilates instructor, this was not only transformative for my own body, but also elevated my entire practice and how I work with clients. When I first came in, I was dealing with significant pain and had even been told by surgeons that I should consider a level two spinal fusion. That never felt right to me—and I’m so grateful I trusted that instinct. With Mamak’s guidance and by integrating her work into my own practice, I am now living completely pain-free. The entire team is amazing. Desiree is so knowledgeable and supportive, and Caroline at the front desk always made me feel so welcomed and taken care of. Every time I walked in, it felt like family. Honestly, the only reason I don’t come in anymore is because I’m no longer in pain—and that says everything. I’m beyond grateful for the care I received here and would recommend them to anyone looking to truly understand their body and heal.
Dr. Shakib is an absolute gem in pelvic therapy! Her approach is both educational and empowering – she meticulously explains the role of every muscle, their functions, and practical ways to optimize their performance for better body harmony. Her hands-on expertise, paired with her exceptional teaching ability, makes each session incredibly effective and enlightening. Highly recommend Dr. Shakib for her personalized, comprehensive, and supportive approach to pelvic health – she's truly helping patients get their bodies operating at their best!
I decided to go see Dr. Shakib after considering that hypermobility might be what was contributing to intense knee pain and other issues I had. I wasn’t 100% sure I had hypermobilty because it wasn’t very obvious and others doubted I had it. The exercises, tips, and tools I have gotten for my HSD are so valuable. I learned how to manage my symptoms and I’m already noticing a reduction of pain. I also connected the dots to many different things I’ve had throughout my life including lifelong foot pain and neck issues. The way the schedule is set up helps you really learn every exercise and I liked that Dr. Shakib’s goal is that you will be confident doing the exercises on your own for the future. I appreciated the free solution session that is offered because I was unsure if hypermobility was a possibility for me. Dr. Shakib and Carolyn are both so kind and supportive in the process.
I can’t explain how wonderful Dr. Shakib and her staff Desiree and Carolyn are. They are so loving and understanding about the complexities of my issues. They are very understanding of my issues, and they completely understand Ehlers Danlos hyper mobility. I’ve never met a professional that understands the entirety of my issues. I’m so blessed that I found Dr. Shakib through Instagram of all places. Even though therapy can be hard, they are kind and patient with my exercises. I don’t want to stop my sessions because it is such a positive experience and they treat me like family, or a close friend. I have learned so much! Amazing human beings!!!
Dr. Shakib is amazing. She is so warm and kind, our sessions always go by so fast. She never makes you feel rushed and is always so patient and informative with my endless questions. Caroline (her front desk staff) is so kind and understanding when I need appointment changes. I am an occupational therapist by trade so I have more than a fair share of understanding how body mechanics work. But even with my background knowledge, I still could not understand how to manage my hypermobility issues because my proprioception was so impaired. I would just move my body into this rough approximation of what I knew proper body positioning looked like, but things would still feel so out of place, I had no idea how to fix what I felt was wrong! With her gentle guidance and cues, I can now feel the difference in how to move my body with control during my everyday activities in a way I hadn't experienced before. I move my body with so much more intuition and intentionality than I did before. The self work never ends, it's an ongoing process to maintain the body awareness, but I feel so much more confident with the knowledge I have gained with Dr. Shakib. I highly recommend coming to see her in person and experiencing her gentle and life changing individualized care. Thank you for everything, Dr. Shakib and Caroline!
