What chiropractors can and can't do in Connecticut
Connecticut chiropractors adjust, manipulate and treat vertebral subluxations and other misaligned joints. They may examine and diagnose, using X-ray and other methods taught in board-approved chiropractic colleges, and may treat by manual, mechanical, electrical or natural methods, including acupuncture, light, heat, water and exercise, and recommend foods and vitamins. They may not prescribe or administer medicine or drugs (other than vitamins), perform surgery, or practice obstetrics or osteopathy.

Insurance and coverage in Connecticut
Medicare
Medicare Part B covers only one chiropractic service: manual manipulation of the spine to correct a subluxation, when you have a significant neuromusculoskeletal problem and the subluxation is shown by X-ray or physical exam. Once treatment stops improving your condition and becomes maintenance therapy, Medicare stops paying. Other chiropractic services aren't covered.

After a car accident
Connecticut requires bodily injury liability of at least $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident, $25,000 of property damage liability, and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage of at least $25,000/$50,000. Liability pays others when you're at fault; your own chiropractic care after a crash is usually paid by the at-fault driver's insurer, your uninsured/underinsured coverage, any medical payments coverage on your policy, or your health insurance.

Work injuries (workers' comp)
Connecticut's Workers' Compensation Act defines "physician" to include practitioners licensed under the state's chiropractic chapter (chapter 372), so licensed chiropractors count as physicians in the workers' compensation system.

What chiropractic care costs in Connecticut
Self-pay prices vary by practice, so ask for the cash price before your first visit. As a reference point, here's what Medicare approves in 2026 for a spinal adjustment in Connecticut:
| 1–2 areas of the spine | $27.97 |
|---|---|
| 3–4 areas | $40.10 |
| 5 areas | $51.85 |
That's the total Medicare approves; with Medicare you typically owe 20% of it after your Part B deductible.
