I got yelled at pretty hard by their office manager Leslie and denied care for future visits because of a communication mistake about the amount of my remaining visits this year with OHP. If I’m being honest the call caught me in a moment of short patience as I was just putting my daughter down for her nap. I called them back and apologized for my tone, I was admittedly having a moment, although I’d also wager Leslie is fairly sensitive to tone... (I’ve never gotten upset at anyone having a bad day, fwiw, and also don’t think that’s a reason to deny someone care). I told them when I came for my first visit I had established with someone else for chiropractic and was just coming to them for massage - but I was forced to see their Chiro anyway in order to get a massage. It’s just their practice. When they went to bill for the visit my visits had run out (which I told them I was close when I was there, and they said don’t worry we’ll take care of it). I specifically remember telling the nice chiropractor that I was working with someone else. He said that’s ok, you can just come here for massage it’s no big deal - I remember this convo clearly especially because we are both from the same part of Pennsylvania, so it made it easy to remember. Despite all these communications, the fact I ran out of visits was still somehow my fault (??), and they cancelled my existing appointments and won’t let me book anymore. It’s easy to ask for more visits from OHP, but I guess this practice just decided I was a b**ch and not worth it or something. There is no one else in town that takes OHP for massage (they rec’d Elk Ridge who I will call but they’re closed today. 50/50 if they take it, everyone else OHP sent me is no longer contracted with them except Alpine - they were the sixth practice on the OHP list I’d called). Idk I’m not one to leave scathing reviews and I’m not trying to do that here out of spite but people on OHP should know - if you don’t mind your manners and make it easy for these folks to see you, they’ll just cancel your appointments. In deep honesty the care wasn’t remarkable for massage or chiro. The adjustment was painful (it’s not supposed to be that way, I’ve been getting Chiro for 25+ years), and the massage was very very meh. I wish I had the opportunity to try a different practitioner, to see if someone else might have changed my mind there. OHP folks - head to Align Chiro. Brian is awesome and very very good at his job. His staff is also lovely. If you’re looking for a massage - good luck out there. It’s brutal. In the business world when someone leaves you a review like this, the best move from a marketing perspective is to offer to fix it. Stay tuned … !
The vanilla Yankee Doodle candle scent is intrusive! Front desk staff seemed irritated with my questions regarding insurance, and when I had an issue inhibiting me from being able to do the extensive paperwork required I was made to feel again like an inconvenience instead of a patient needing better accommodations. The massage was mid.
Absolutely amazing place to get your spine alignment, I am really looking forward to my massage there too. My back was on horrible shape and I couldn't barely touch my toes, after they helped me and I am now in tip top shape, thanks for their care.
I hurt my back in the military and have seen chiropractors on/off ever since. After moving to the area I needed to find another. A person at the county VA said they used Alpine, so I made an appointment. The receptionist was/is super nice and very helpful. The office staff as well, have had no billing/insurance issues whatsoever. Dr. Shcill obviously knows his profession and is a skilled practitioner. Unlike some who just use the “drop table” and go round robin hoping it works. I will continue to be a patient for sure. Today I read the reviews and saw that majority were in alignment with my experience. Then there were the personal/hateful ones. The race card one was ridiculous, I’m sure the Army taught her to show up and on time. Otherwise there are consequences. There will always be a disgruntled patient/person in medicine. Don’t let their review prevent you from giving Alpine Chiropractic a chance to earn your business!
Dr Schill and the caregivers I saw are really great however on every occasion I interacted with her both in person and on the phone, their office manager Lesley has been rude, dismissive, haughty, manipulative, unaccountable, and should not be in a position that involves dealing with the public. On several occasions she blatantly gaslit me and made it clear that she was a generally uncooperative and divisive individual, far more interested in fomenting conflict than fostering care and understanding. When I finally called her out on her approach and told her I was feeling belittled by her tone and approach, she went into textbook narcissistic defensiveness patterns, offering no humility or accountability and instead gaslighting me, playing the victim and saying I was being rude (I never raised my voice or name-called, she did) and then saying she would simply cancel all my remaining appointments and telling me I'd been abandoned as a patient, leaving me in pain and scrambling to get the care I need. She should be ashamed of herself for showing so little humanity and decency, and moreover so little compassion and care, especially to someone in pain who's simply struggling to navigate accident-related insurance paperwork and procedures. Everyone in medical-related customer service should have to take a course in conflict resolution and should know how to validate a patient's concerns, pain, etc. and know that building understanding and avoiding/resolving oppositional and conflict-conflating modes of communication is vital to this kind of work.
